Fishing Club: Daiwa BG 60 Review

here comes another fishing club review, while i mostly review fihing lures but i thought why not review other items that can add up to your fishing arsenal , So lets have a look at the oldie daiwa bg 60 spinning reel , its just another oldie piece from Daiwa that can live forever,  its only made in Thailand (originally was made in Japan), When i first bought this reel i thought its a replica cause the label said made in Thailand , but after some checking on Daiwa's website i found out that they have a new factory in Thailand , So expect the same quality. what i mainly like about this reel is the high quality 17lbs drag , that's what makes the difference between original reels and cheap replicas, The quality of the drag is one of the most important things to look at when buying a new reel, and i just loved the drag on the BG 60.
The reel is very durable , I used it mainly for bottom fishing and it did great! I also tried jigging this reel but that actually wasn't a good idea, never jig this reel unless you are going to use a very light jig along with a slow jigging motion, otherwise it wont give you the correct action and might cause you to lose a fish because this oldie piece is not equipped with a good anti-reverse, to make it more clear, The BG 60 does not incorporate a one-way bearing, so the rotor can turn 10-20 degrees before the anti-reverse engages, This is a minor annoyance and it never caused me to lose any fish when casting or bottom fishing, But again , this is not OK for high speed jigging.
I caught a lot of big fish using this reel, thanks to the high quality drag that comes with it , My catches on the BG 60 incleded reef sharks , giant trevally, coral groupers & red snappers , the other good thing about this reel is the handle, it can be easily switched for left/right hand retrieval and can be folded for easy storage.

Dajo!
